Should Cancer Patients Suffer From Pain?

Cancer patients suffer a great deal of pain as their condition progresses. Not only is the cancer patient who suffers from the emotional and physical pain but so are their family and friends. Caring for a cancer patient can take a toll on the family’s financial, emotional and psychological ability to cope with the condition. Understanding cancer pain and its proper management will help the patient cope better with the proper support of the caregivers and family members.


Cancer is a disease where abnormal cells uncontrollably grow in the body and spread to affect the body tissues and organs including the lungs, skin, breast, bone, liver, colon and nerve tissues among others. Relieving the pain experienced by a cancer patient is one of the priority treatment management to be given. Common symptoms experienced with cancer include fatigue, body malaise, chills, weight loss, loss of appetite, and pain. Cancer pain management includes the prescription of medication and conservative treatment using exercise and relaxation techniques. While pain is indispensable in cancers, it is manageable.
